Official Inauguration of Cabinet

On Saturday, 24th November, 2012, all roads led to the Palace of the Ikeoha I of Inyi, Enugu-Ezike autonomous community, His Royal Highness, Igwe Hyacinth Alumona who celebrated his maiden Ofala Festival and officially inaugurated his Cabinet.

The ceremony started as early as 6 a.m. with a holy mass at Igwe’s palace conducted by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Paulinus Idoko.  The Igwe with his cabinet members later paid a courtesy visit to the Onyishi Inyi, Agu Ogbonna Eze in his Obu.  The Onyishi prayed for peace, unity and progress of the community.  He equally prayed for God’s grace and guidance for the traditional ruler to discharge his responsibilities with wisdom.

The Ofala festival was graced by the all the traditional rulers in Enugu-Ezike Kingdom led by the acting Chairman of  Enugu State Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRH, Igwe Dr. Simeon Osisi Itodo, Eze Oha of Essodo Aji.

The Honourable Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters in Enugu State, Pastor Emeka Abugu and his staff were also in attendance.  The Honourable Commissioner was full of admiration for the Igwe and entire members of Inyi Community for the rapid developments that have taken place within a short space of time compared to what it used to be in the past.  He enjoined all and sundry to work with the Igwe to bring peace and further developments to the community.

Also the General Manager, Enugu State Rural Electrification Board, Engr. Simon Atigwe  was in attendance.  He used to the occasion to address the press and announced that work on the Inyi Enugu Ezike rural electrification project will commence in full force in the coming week. The Nigerian Television Authority and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria were there to cover the events.

The council of elders of Inyi, Enugu-Ezike was on ground too.  The Igwe presented them with a gift of a live cow and they were sumptuously entertained with food and drinks.

 

There were cultural displays from many quarters in the community. Prominent indigenes of the community returned home for the festival and people used the occasion to interact with people they have not seen for a long period of time. It was fun and fun all through.
