Gunmen raid southern Kaduna village

Gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, again raided Atakar village in   Kaura Local Government in   the southern area of Kaduna State.

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, an eyewitness, who craved annomity, said.

Although as of the time of filing this report, no life had been reported lost it was gathered that several residents of the village were shot by the gunmen, who rode on  bikes to the village, shooting sporadically at all directions.

The village was attacked last month, when over 19 residents were killed and several houses razed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

An eyewitness said the gunmen, rode through Zangar Atakar village  on motorcycles  with their faces in mask.

He said the gunmen were fearless and reckless when they struck the village, adding that 10 persons were injured as a result of the gunshot, although he said, “I  cannot say if anyone has died.

“I personally helped four people that were  shot to the hospital today, but it’s possible that some of them that sustained severe injuries might not survive.”

However, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Command, Aminu Lawan,  said the command was not aware of any attack in the state.
