Inno Dixon Aniebue (also referred to as Uncle Dickson) belongs to the fabric of the Nigerian broadcast media and entertainment industry toward the late 20th century Eastern Nigeria.
He was a household name in the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) – now ESBS of Enugu State. His iconic 'Tombo connection' was a phenomenon in the early 1980s. His style blends highlife and folk-pop genres.
His heyday was at the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), then based in Enugu; the capital of the 'old' Anambra state – then comprised of present day Enugu and Anambra states. He acquired his title from his friendly and charming disposition on air, which was loved by listeners from young and old alike. The division of the then ABS into its constituent Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) and its sister station the then ABS, Awka marked the transition for many seasoned broadcasters to either of the new outfits in 1991 following the carving of Enugu and Anambra states out of old Anambra.
He worked among seasoned personalities who defined the media landscape and sports commentary in Nigeria. Among the greats of that era was Ernest Okonkwo, celebrated as the greatest football commentator ever, famous for his melodic rhythmic and expressive narration of football matches over the airwaves.
A couple of his acclaimed works is Uncle Dickson of G.R.A. In Tombo connection, Vol. 1 (1982). This was the iconic album produced under ABC Records, in which he featured among well known artists like Cathy Connection and Lord Afro.
He is alleged to have been married to the highlife legend Nelly Uchendu (owner of the hit track "Love Nwantiti"). Reports said he died but an official date could not be obtained.
Inno Dixon Aniebue was most known for his sharp criticism against some social systems in the country. At the African Leadership Forum, he lambasted Ima madu, a concept prevalent in Nigeria that believes that being someone of connections overrides merit.
